Panel Discussion: Graduating into Success - How to Develop Meaningful Partnerships with HBCUs and MSIs
Description
Date: Thursday, September 9
Time: 2:15 PM - 3:45 PM
Location: Meeting Room 8
Session Description: Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and other Minority Serving Institutions (MSIs) are institutions of higher education that were established based on historical origin or categorized based on enrollment criteria. These institutions provide students, who were historically denied or restricted access based on their race and/or ethnicity, with opportunities for equal (and welcoming) access to higher education while also providing a unique support system. To succeed in developing meaningful partnerships that can support the talented STEM graduates from HBCUs and MSIs, and the industries they will join, companies must strive to connect with these institutions beyond career services. This panel discussion will cover the background of HBCUs, MSIs and their students, benefits of creating bonds with these programs, and the steps industry leaders can take to develop meaningful relationships that are both beneficial to the institutions and helpful for the industry. Industry folks, educators, alumni, students and all interested parties are welcome to participate!
